Design Christmas cats

In this tutorial, we'll show you how to create a magical cat decoration with homemade Christmas caps and scarves. With a little colour, craft felt, small sewing projects and the finger knitting technique, you can create winter accessories for your cat figurines in no time at all.

Painting cat figures
Paint the cat figurines according to your own ideas. We have painted a grey striped or brown spotted fur look on our standing figures here. The cute faces with pink spotted cheeks are already printed on our wooden figures.

Before you start making the accessories, paint your cat figurines as you wish. While the paint is still drying, you can start making the hats and scarves.

Finger knitting for the scarf
1. knot a loop and place it around your thumb.
2. pass the yarn behind the index finger, in front of the middle finger, then behind the ring finger and finally back in front of the little finger.
3. then pass the thread around and behind the little finger, in front of the ring finger, behind the middle finger and in front of the index finger.
4. place the thread behind all the fingers, then in front of all the fingers so that the thread lies in your hand.
5. pull the loop around the index finger down from the index finger and over the thread so that the thread is now on the index finger.
6 Repeat this process. At the end, place the thread back over the fingers and pull the loops onto the fingers over the thread.
7. cut the thread about 10 cm long, place it over your fingers again and pull the loops over the thread. This time, pull the end of the thread all the way through the previous loop. Repeat this until all the loops have been worked.

Christmas cap made from felting
1. cut out the triangles: Cut out two triangles from red felting. These will serve as the base for the hat.
2. sewing together: Sew the two triangles together at the sides. Turn the hat inside out so that the seams are on the inside.
3. wavy edge: Cut out a wavy edge from white felting. Sew this edge to the lower part of the hat.
4. attach the pompom: Attach a white pompoms as a bobble to the lace of the hat. 5. optional bend: If desired, you can sew the hat so that it leans to one side. This gives the hat more volume and a playful look.

Now all you have to do is attach the accessories and your Christmas cat decoration is complete. Now you can place them anywhere in your home or wrap them as charming gifts.
