Fabric flowers

This idea shows you how you can make elegant DIY flowers from fabric with little effort. You can then present the finished flowers in a pretty vase or as a horizontal bouquet. The chic flowers are also suitable as a small gift for many occasions.

Decorative flowers craft

1. Select a fabric of your choice and cut out six circles of the same size for each flower. We used fabric circles of approx. Ø 7 cm and Ø 12 cm to make our example flowers. Then fold the circles in the middle and iron them. Make sure that the pattern is on the outside.

2. Pull a long sewing thread into a needle. Now close the first folded half circle by hand along the curve with simple basting stitches. Sew the other half circles together on the same thread.

3. If you now gather the fabric by the thread, the flower shape will emerge almost by itself and only needs to be plucked into shape a little. The result is a very realistic look. Knot the ends of the thread tightly and closely to the flower and then shorten them so that you can no longer see the end of the thread.

4. Finally, glue a pompom on top of the centre of the flower.

Completing the work of art

1. First paint the wooden plates and round sticks in antique green and let them dry sufficiently.

2. Now glue the rounded side of the wooden plate to the round stick with a little hot glue. Once the board is well fixed, glue the fabric flower onto it.

3. Finally, you can tie all the flowers together with a decorative ribbon to make a bouquet.
