Difficulty: Beginner
Working time: 3 Hours
Step 1: Transfer and cut out the templates
Start by transferring the snail templates to the craft cardboard sheet. Make sure that the lines are sufficiently visible so that you can work precisely when cutting them out. As soon as you have cut out the shapes, you can continue with the design.
Step 2: Design the eyes and mouth
Now it comes to life! Stick the wobbly eyes onto the pre-drawn areas on the craft cardboard sheet. For an individual expression, draw smiling mouths on the snail faces with a felt-tip pen. Make sure that the eyes and mouth are positioned so that your snail looks friendly and inviting.
Step 3: Shape the snails
Fold the snails along the dotted lines indicated on the template. This folding technique gives your snails stability so that they can stand upright. check the folded edges and adjust them if necessary to ensure good stability.
Step 4: Glue the parts together
Connect the cut-out parts by gluing the head, antennae and snail shell together. Press the parts firmly together to ensure that they adhere securely.
Step 5: Wrap pompoms
Take your pompon maker to hand. This consists of two halves that click together to form a ring. Start by wrapping one half of the template with your favorite wool. Make sure you start from the center and wind the wool evenly. Repeat the process on the other side. When both halves of the pompom maker are filled, close the ring.
Step 6: Finish pompoms
Use scissors to cut the wool along the outside of the stencil . Then pull a sturdy ribbon between the two halves of the template and tie it tightly together. Remove the pompom halves to take out your finished pompom. For particularly colorful pompoms you can use several wool colors at the same time. Finally, cut off any excess threads with scissors to give the pompom an even, round shape.
Step 7: Finishing the snail
Crown your craft cardboard sheet-snail with the self-made pompoms, by attaching it as a decorative snail shell. Play with different color combinations to create unique snails. The two medium pompom wrapper sizes are suitable for our templates.
Let your creativity run wild and enjoy your home-made work of art. Have fun crafting!
