Preparation is everything: decisions and planning
Before you get started, think about whether you want to work with real plants or prefer a low-maintenance version with artificial plants. This will influence your choice of materials and the preparation of your base.
Step 1: Prepare and prime the tray
Start by coating all the wooden elements with wood stain to give them a natural charm. Allow the glaze to dry thoroughly, especially if you are working with real plants, to keep the moisture out.
Working with plants? Then place a protective film in the tray to protect the substrate from water. Cut the foil generously and attach it with hot glue. This will later be covered by the soil. Then fill with loose coco soil.
If you are using artificial plants, you can use granules, decorative stones or wood chips instead.
Step 2: Determine the basic structure and plant
Design the landscape of your miniature garden. Create small hills or mounds and start planting the plants. Make sure that real plants have room to grow and be watered. Use moss on the base area to create different areas such as grass and beds. Also place small decorative stones for paths and logs for fences.
Step 3: Decorating the miniature garden
The creative part! Design your miniature landscape as you wish. Use small clay pots by pushing them onto a wooden skewer and filling them with moss . Then arrange other decorative elements such as benches, barrels or small bicycles on your garden path.
Use your plant scraps to create living areas and place decorative items such as mushrooms or garden tools for a realistic effect.
Be creative and customize the garden as you wish, place all the decorative elements you want and arrange your plant elements artfully. your garden should reflect your personal touch!
