Preparation is everything!
Before you start with your creative idea, roughly arrange the picture frames and the desired napkin motifs on the work table in front of you. You can use our idea as a guide or sketch out your plan on a piece of paper to be on the safe side. This will help you create your own perfect picture frame collage.
Prime the picture frame
Start by priming all your picture frames in a uniform white colour. This will create a neutral base that will perfectly accentuate all of the following maritime elements. Make sure that the primer is applied evenly and allow it to dry completely before continuing.
Applying the napkin technique
Separate the top printed paper layer of your napkin motifs from the other layers of paper. First coat the area intended for the design with napkin glue and carefully place the napkin motif on top. Seal the motif with another layer of napkin glue using a soft napkin brush. If you brush over the napkin from the centre outwards, you can avoid or smooth out any folding stars.
Add decorations
Now the accents come into play: you can use hand lettering to write inspiring maritime sayings directly onto the frames. Then add scatter decorations, a fishing net and sea shells to give the frames depth and character. Make sure to place the embellishments in a harmonious ratio on the frame.
Mould letters and use as a decorative element
Use the currently popular casting hobby for your picture frame collage.
Mix about three heaped tablespoons of casting powder in a container. Add a few drops of colour concentrates - this will create the desired marbling effect. Stir the mixture gently, taking care not to mix the colour effect completely. Pour the mixed casting compound into the required letters of the "Letters & Numbers" casting mould.
Allow the letters to dry thoroughly. Remove them from your casting mould and stick the letters onto your picture.
