Homemade gingerbread man candle holder: a nostalgic highlight for cosy evenings
Step 1: Mould the gingerbread men
Preparing the casting compound: Start with the gingerbread casting mould. Pour about two tablespoons of casting powder into the mixing cup. Then slowly add water and stir vigorously. The aim is to achieve a lump-free, smooth mixture. Make sure that no lumps remain in the mixture.
Pour out the mould: Carefully pour the prepared casting compound into the gingerbread man mould. Tap the mould gently but firmly on the table a few times. This causes any air bubbles to rise and makes the figure more stable.
Drying and demoulding: Leave the casting compound to harden for about 30 minutes. You can then carefully remove the gingerbread man from the mould. Use sandpaper to gently sand down the rough edges. Leave the moulding to dry completely for approx. 8 hours. Repeat this process until you have made a total of seven gingerbread men.
Step 2: Moulding the coasters
Preparation and drying of the coaster: Use the "Round coaster" silicone casting mould. Pour about four heaped tablespoons of casting powder into the mixing cup. Mix it with water as before. Once the mixture has been poured, leave it to dry for about two hours.
Step 3: Spray the rose pot
Applying the chalk spray paint: Now it's the rose pot's turn. Make sure that the spraying area is well covered and work outdoors if possible. Clean the surface so that it is dry and free of grease. Shake the spray can for two to three minutes and hold it vertically while keeping it 15 to 25 cm away from the pot. Spray the pot evenly and allow it to dry thoroughly.
Step 4: Assembling the candle holder
Attach the components: Use VBS handicraft glue to glue the individual parts of your candle holder together. Make sure that you allow enough time for the glue to dry.
To create the candlelight effect: Fill the tea light jar "Bowl" with special candle sand. Then plug a wick into it and place it in the centre of the already dried coaster.
