Give old furniture a second chance. This garden chair has also been given a new look! The frame has been freshened up with a permanent spray. The seat and backrest were simply designed with jute tape. An absolute eye-catcher for the garden.
Here's how:
Spray the frame of the chair with permanent spray. For our decoration example, we used the colour ivory. Apply a second coat of paint after the first drying time of about 30 minutes.Unwind as much of the jute ribbon as you can comfortably work with. You can now start on the backrest or seat with this bundle. If the bundle runs out, simply unwind a new bundle and knot the two together. The knots can be easily hidden later.
Backrest:
In our decoration example, the backrest was designed from the top to about halfway with the jute ribbon. To do this, knot the jute ribbon on one side, fix it with a little hot glue if necessary and wrap it crosswise. By winding it crosswise, the backrest is more stable.As soon as the desired length has been reached, knot the end of the cord tightly and fix it with hot glue as well.
Seat:
First start with the back and front cross brace from the frame: Knot the jute ribbon at the rear frame, wrap the cord once around the frame, stretch the ribbon over the opposite frame and wrap it once around the frame there as well. Repeat the process until the entire seat is covered with jute tape. Knot the end of the jute tape.Now wrap the left and right struts and thus weave the seat surface. To do this, knot one end of the jute tape, wrap around the frame, pass the thread OVER five and then UNDER five of the tightened threads. Repeat this process until you reach the other side of the frame and wrap the frame there too. You will weave five rows in this way.
The next five rows are woven the other way round. The thread is first stretched UNDER five threads and then OVER five threads. In this way, a stable woven seat is created.
