Concrete light sculptures
Instructions No. 2110Create particularly beautiful concrete sculptures that attract every attention. These look great when lit up with light, as well as when used as plant pots. Let yourself be admired for these works of art!
Create the sculptures as follows:
Place the terracotta pots (with the opening facing downwards) over an object (e.g. can, bottle).
Cut three 40x40 cm pieces from the gift wrap and place them over the terracotta pots. If necessary, fix them with some adhesive tape.
Cut the fabric to the desired size. In our example we have cut 30x30 cm, 20x20 cm and a circle with a diameter of 25 cm. These 3 cloths are soaked in water. Next, mix about 15 tablespoons of concrete with water to a yoghurt-like mass. Now soak each cloth one after the other. It is important that the cloths are completely covered with concrete. Now hang them over the terracotta pots and let them dry for about 24 hours.
Slowly remove the cloths that have hardened from the clay pots. From the inside you can paint them with Maya Stardust or Maya Gold. If you want to put a candle in later, the gold will reflect the candlelight especially well. For this project, buckets or other objects can also be used as formers.
Finally, coat your concrete structures with the weatherproof impregnation. This colourless transparent varnish is very suitable as a final finish and should be applied in two layers with a brush. In this way your castings have a permanent seal and protection against dirt and moisture, they become weatherproof and resistant to weathering. No primer is necessary for this varnish.
When everything has dried, you can decorate the sculptures after staying. For example a candle or even a plant can be placed inside.
