With a decorative wooden crate arrangement in the garden or on the patio, you can quickly create a small oasis of well-being. Atmospheric lanterns go perfectly with this and complement your outdoor ambience wonderfully. Our simple instructions show you how to use creative techniques to design unique terracotta-pots and lanterns.

Decorate the lantern glass with transfer motifs
Start by sticking "butterflies" transfer motifs onto the lantern glass at cord . Choose your favorite butterflies on the transfer sheet and cut out the butterflies directly on the edge of the motif. Remove the backing paper from the underside of each motif and place it on the lantern glass. Rub a plastic or wooden spatula over the motif to fix it securely in place. You can then peel off the protective film on the top of the transfer.
Fill the wind light with sand and place a candle inside.

Decorate the wind light lantern with decorative butterflies from a decorative butterfly napkin: To do this, cut out the butterflies, carefully remove all the bottom layers of paper so that you only still have the printed paper layer.
Position these on the wind light and stick them on using napkin varnish . Apply as little varnish as possible over the motif on the glass. you can scrape away any excess paint with a bamboo skewer or carefully remove it with a universal cleaner.

Decorative clay pots and wooden flower
Before you decorate terracotta pots with napkin technique , prime them with white handicraft paint. The printed motifs of your chosen napkin will be clearly visible on the terracotta later thanks to the light background.

While you wait for the white paint to dry, paint more clay pots and a wooden flower in fresh colors, according to your personal taste. You can also paint the edges of the wooden boxes with a little paint.

The napkin technique on the clay pots can be done in the same way as the napkin technique on the glass. Here, however, it is not important to pay attention to any protruding paint residue, because after sticking on the napkin motifs, you coat the entire terracotta surface with the napkin varnish. This gives it an even look and a protective varnish.

Craft small pennant garlands
Use the template to make the small pennant garlands. Download it and transfer it to fabric. Cut out the pennants with zigzag scissors. Fold the fabric at the seam allowance for each pennant, place a jute cord between all the pennants and staple everything together briefly (also works well with paper clips). Sew everything together. Attach eyelets to the wooden crates and hang the pennants from these eyelets.
