Coloured structure pictures

Working with structure paste on stretched canvas is currently a popular topic. With the paste, you can create extraordinary works of art for your home in just a few simple steps. In this guide, we have three examples of how you can create beautiful textured pictures.

Example 1 - Colored background and colored structure paste

For this textured image, first prime the stretched canvas with a color of your choice. We have opted for the shade madder red-Dark here. For an intense color result, apply a second coat of paint after drying.

As soon as the paint has dried, tape several squares and rectangles with masking tape.

Now mix the white structure paste with a little acrylic paint and mix everything together well. We used the same color as for the background. Apply the paste generously with a palette knife to the stretched canvas so that the entire surface is covered with it.

Now the creative part begins! Now you can use a palette knife to make different patterns in the still wet paste. Try out different effect spatulas and see which patterns you like best. If you notice that you have used too much or too little paste, remove or add a little more paste.

Example 2 - Colored frame

For this variant, you first prime the entire frame again with stretched canvas with acrylic paintas in the first example. Here, too, we have used the color madder red-dark.

Now mask off one edge with masking tape so that only there is still a square in the middle.

As with the first variant, apply the structure paste and add patterns with an effect spatula.

As soon as the structure paste is completely dry, you can remove the adhesive tape remove it.

Example 3 - White textured image with colored accents

For this image, apply the structure paste onto the stretched canvas directly. Proceed as for the first example. Once you are happy with your result, allow the paste to dry completely.

Now you can use acrylic paint to add beautiful accents. For example, paint over the motifs. In our decorative example, we designed one of the patterns entirely with acrylic paint and added a few color accents to the other pattern only .

Finally, you can add a wooden picture frame to all the textured pictures. The beautiful works of art can then be hung on your walls and admired.
