Want to knit a cosy scarf, but the traditional knitting method with needles isn't for you? Then we have the perfect solution for you - use a knitting strip!

With this simple and fun technique, you can effortlessly knit a fashionable scarf without having to struggle with complicated instructions. In this step-by-step instruction, we'll show you how to achieve impressive results in no time using a knitting gauge. This process is ideal for beginners and perfectionists alike. Let's get creative together and knit your new favourite scarf!
Interesting facts about this idea

  • Knitting strip used: 18 pins per side
  • Width of the scarf: approx. 24 cm
  • Approx. 70 rows can be knitted per ball of wool with this knitting strip (approx. 50 cm)
How knitting with the knitting strip works

  1. First, tie the beginning of the wool to one of the end pins on the left or right.
  2. In the first row, we prepare the cast-on. To do this, lay the knitting wool around the first peg from right to left, then guide the yarn to the opposite peg - again from right to left, i.e. you lay the yarn in a loop around all pegs in the shape of an 8. Repeat the process until you have lots of "loops of 8" on the strip.
  3. The stitches must now be cast off. To do this, wrap the cast-off row next. To do this, repeat step 2.
  4. Now start knitting off the stitches. Start at the last wrapped peg and hook into the respective stitch on the outside of the knitting strip each time you knit: Using the knitting hook, pick up the bottom stitch (cast-on row) and pull it over the top stitch (cast-off row).
  5. Wrap the next row of 8 loops and knit the stitches off. Repeat this process until you have reached the desired length.
If you want to use a new wool colour, simply cut the thread of the currently active wool and knot the end of the thread with the new wool.

To finish the scarf, cast off all the stitches. It is best to use a crochet hook for this. Remove the first stitch and the opposite stitch from the hook with the crochet hook and pull the first stitch over the second stitch on the opposite side. Pull this new stitch back over the next opposite stitch. Repeat this process until you have cast off all the stitches.
